KALKI

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Kalki is a free-to-play social app for opinions — polls, predictions, and quiz battles — operated by Kalki Media Technologies Private Limited. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Kalki, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain, in line with applicable Indian law including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. What we collect

Account and sign-in. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, your name, and your profile picture. For Sign in with Apple we also store the stable, app-specific Apple user ID Apple gives us, so we can recognise you when you return (Apple may hide your real email behind a private relay address). We never receive or store your Google or Apple password.

Age confirmation. Kalki is for adults only. When you sign up you confirm you are 18 or older. We record that you confirmed it and the date you did.

Gameplay data. As you play, we record the polls you vote in, the predictions you make and how they resolve, your quiz battles and rounds, the answers you give and how long you took, your scores, your skill rating, your in-app coin balance and history, and your streaks, level, and XP. Coins are a free, virtual, in-app score — they are not money and can never be exchanged for money.

Things you create. Your display name and handle; the polls and stories you publish, including the photographs, captions and any place name in them; any quiz rooms or crews you create; and reactions you send in rooms. What you publish on Kalki is public.

Camera and photographs. We ask for camera or photo-library permission only when you choose to add a photo to a story or your profile, never at start-up. We convert the photo to a web format and store it on AWS in Mumbai; that conversion strips the original file’s metadata, including any location the camera recorded. You can delete a story at any time.

Device and session data. Each time you sign in we create a session and record your IP address, your browser or app identifier (user-agent), and a device identifier, so we can keep you signed in securely and detect abuse.

Product analytics. We log in-app events — such as signing in, opening the feed, voting in a poll, making a prediction, starting and finishing matches, completing quizzes, creating or joining rooms, and notifications sent or opened — tied to your Kalki account ID, using PostHog. The app on your phone includes PostHog’s analytics library, so these events are sent both by the app and by our servers, and they go to PostHog’s servers in the United States. We use them to understand how Kalki is used and to fix what is broken — never for advertising, and they are not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Crash reports. If the app stops unexpectedly, we receive a report of what broke and where, plus your device model and app version, using PostHog. Anything that looks like an email address or a login token is stripped out before the report leaves your phone. These reports go to PostHog’s servers in the United States.

Notifications. If you turn them on, we store a token identifying your device and send notifications through Expo, which passes them to Apple’s or Google’s push service. The token is held on Expo’s servers in the United States. We delete it when you turn notifications off or delete your account.

2. How we use your data

We use the data above to:

We never use your data to show you ads — there is no advertising in Kalki — and we never sell it.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Kalki, and only for that purpose:

That is the complete list. We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Data retention and account deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you do, we:

Your past games and coin history are part of a single shared game ledger that must stay balanced, so those game records are retained but are no longer linked to your identifying details — your account is anonymised rather than deleted line by line. We may also keep information we are required to retain for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

To request deletion or ask a question about your data, use the in-app option or contact us at support@getkalki.com.

5. Children

Kalki is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of India to use it, and signup is blocked for anyone who does not confirm they are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data:

No online service can be completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to fix issues quickly.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.

8. Your rights, and contacting us

You can ask us, at any time: for access to the personal data we hold about you; for correction of anything inaccurate or incomplete — your display name, photo and profile line you can correct yourself in the app, and anything else by email; and for deletion of your account, from inside the app or by writing to us. Section 4 describes exactly what deletion does.

You can also nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or are unable to act — write to us with their name and consent and we will record it.

Kalki is operated by Kalki Media Technologies Private Limited. For any of these, email us at support@getkalki.com. This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

9. Grievance Officer

If you have a complaint — about content on Kalki, about how your data is handled, or about anything in this policy — you can raise it with our Grievance Officer:

Prashant Mohan
